Sadly we don't always get there early enough to make the difference.
Unfortunately we were too late for Rocky. He was in a very bad way and had suffered obvious neglect for a long, long time. His teeth were in such a bad way that they had torn the inside of his mouth which made it very difficult for him to eat. His hooves hadn't been touched for years which made his posture very uncomfortable and created great pain and further problems. We placed him in a comfy stable with thick mat and straw to ease his discomfort and his feet were being trimmed and life started to become more comfortable again. However, he had "tick fever" which had gone untreated for so long that his main organs were badly affected and infected.
Eventually this was the cause of his death and we at ASHA feel very sad that we could not save him. Neglected for so long, at least he spent time before he died knowing that there was kindness and people who cared.
