We've been busy raising funds for ASHA!  Take a look to see what we have been up to recently...

 

 

Horse Racing Night - Villereal - Friday 22 November

 

Although we were small in numbers, it was a great fun evening enjoyed by all watching

pre-recorded races at the Salle Jean Moulin.

The winners were drawn ar random and received some lovely wine as prizes.

All wines and raffle prizes had been donated which meant that all monies were

profit for ASHA raising 233 Euros.

A very big thank you to Tina and Mick who not only organised the evening and sourced

all the prizes both for the race winners and the raffle.

 

 

Quiz Night at the Monte Cristo, Villereal - 24th October

 

Once again the ASHA Quiz Night proved very popular with a room full of teams battling it out,

resulting in 497 euros profit being raised for our cause.

Our Quiz Master John Kearsey didn't disappoint with some wonderfully varied questions.

Thank you John for all your hard work. Also a big thank you to everyone who attended."

 

 

Book Sale @ Salle Jean Moulin Villereal - 12th October

 

ASHA held another dedicated Book Sale at the Salle Jean Moulin in Villereal. Entrance was free, all books were 1 euro with tea, coffee and biscuits available. Despite the appalling weather and a vastly reduced number of market traders due to the weather we still made a profit of 308 euros.

Many thanks to all who supported us and especially to the members who did all the hard work loading and unloading the books. In addition a number of Greeting Cards were sold."

 

 

Sponsored Ride - 7th October

 

A big thankyou to Helen for organising the ride and to all the riders, horses & those who supported the riders by looking after the horses to give the riders a break at lunch time. The weather was just perfect.

 

When all the sponsorship monies have been collected in an amazing total of 764 € will have been raised.

 

 

Fish and Chip Supper - Razac d'Eymet - 5th October

 

A most enjoyable evening at the home of Nicola Smith.  Fifty ASHA members and supporters sat down

to enjoy the most delicious traditional fish and chips with mushy peas cooked by The Dordogne Chippy.

The ASHA ladies had made a wonderful variety of puddings to follow.

 

A very big thank you to Nicola and family for all their hard work in hosting the evening. George and Harriet did a great job in serving the meals to everyone.

 

A magnificent profit of 460 € raised for our charity.

 

 

Journee du Cheval - Villereal - 29th September

 

Once again we took the ASHA stand to this important day in the year of the local horse world, meeting many new people who were interested in our charity. Thank you to all those who helped on the stand.

Jazz Night, Hotel du Lac, Villereal - 14th September

 

Seventy three ASHA Members and Supporters enjoyed some wonderful jazz played by Mike Green and his band. Mike is Helen Green's father and the band entertained us with no charge to ASHA - a truly generous gesture. A big thank you to Helen for organising the event and very special thanks to "Helen's dad" and his band for their fabulous music. A fantastic sum of  €660 raised for our charity.

 

 

Country Fayre and Open Day, Cantemerle - Sunday 8th September

 

The weather was just atrocious in the morning which meant that the planned demonstrations and activities could not take place.

However, a superb BBQ early afternoon put everyone into better spirits.

Once the rain had stopped the 2 ASHA horses under training were able to demonstrate just how much they have progressed since coming to ASHA.

The dog show was great fun for both the young and not so young. Despite the foul weather we still managed to raise 306 euros for ASHA.

A very big thank you to all those who turned out despite the appalling weather.

 

 

Tea on the Lawn St Capraise d'Eymet - 22nd August

 

On a beautiful afternoon in lovely surroundings we all enjoyed a lovely tea party hosted by

Pat and David Lee at their home in St Capraise d'Eymet.

To complete the setting a pony and donkey strolled around the grounds suitably "dressed" for the occasion.

The ASHA ladies had made sandwiches, homemade cakes and scones for all to enjoy.

A very big thankyou to Pat and David and to all who helped to make the day such a success.

We raised the magnificent sum of 600 Euros. In addition Calendar sales of 100 Euros was achieved.

 

 

Villereal Vide Grenier - Sunday 18th August

 

For the fourth year we took the ASHA stand, merchandise and bric-a-brac to the Vide Grenier,

Villereal where our volunteers were kept busy raising  235 euros in sales and donations.

Thank you to all of who helped out.

 

 

Paulhiac Fete - Thursday 15th August

 

Our Chief Carer, Joan, took the ASHA stand and merchandise to the Paulhiac Fete.

Profit of 36 Euros was raised in donations and sales of merchandise.

Joan also talked to a number of people about our charity. A very big thank you to Joan for manning the stand all day."

 

 

Holistic Horse Day @ Cantemerle with Helen Green  -  11 August

 

Helen Green, ASHA's Trainer, held an Holistic Horse clinic in which horses, both

members' and ASHA rescue were used to demonstrate the power of communicating with horses in their own language.

The 6 participants had a most enjoyable and successful day.

Many thanks to Helen for hosting the day and donating half the profits of 142.50 Euros to ASHA.

A very special thank you to all the horses.

 

 

Book Sale @ Salle Francois Mitterand Villereal - 20th July

 

ASHA held another dedicated Book Sale at the Salle Francois Mitterrand in Villereal.

Entrance was free, all books were 1 euro with tea, coffee, cold drinks and biscuits available.

The book sale raised 327 euros for our charity.

Many thanks to all who supported us and especially to the committee members who did all the hard work.

 

 

Garden Fete @ Gervesie, Monflanquin - 30th June

 

On a glorious sunny day everyone enjoyed our most successful Garden Fete to date. The atmosphere was quite lovely in a beautiful location. With the monies from the gate, stalls, tombola, "Match the Adult to the Child", sale of merchandise we raised a superb 1326 euros. The gentlemen judges of the scone baking competition thoroughly enjoyed their task and took great care to sample fully each plate. A very big thank you to all involved and especially to Charlotte and Nigel for the quite lovely venue.

The group had a most enjoyable and successful day.A special thanks to Helen for hosting the day and donating half of the profits to ASHA. Half profits totalled 100 Euros.A very special thank you to all the horses.

A truly magnificent profit of 550 euros raised for our charity.

 

 

Sponsored Walk Monflanquin - 9th May

 

The weather was kind and a lovely walk thoroughly enjoyed by all. The final total raised was 513 euros.

A truly magnificent amount. A very big thank you to all who took part and in particular to Charlotte for

organising the walk and supplying coffee, water etc for us

ASHA held another dedicated Book Sale at the Salle Francois Mitterrand in Villereal.

Entrance was free, all books were 1 euro with tea, coffee and biscuits available.

The book sale was a great success and an amount of over €410.30 profit was made.

Many thanks to all who supported us and especially to the committee members who did all the hard work.

In addition to the Book Sale, items donated by a supporter have been sold and raised an additional sum of €235.

 

 

Quiz Night at the Monte Cristo, Villereal - 28th February

 

Once again the ASHA Quiz Night proved very popular.  This year was our biggest yet with many

more teams, resulting in €546 being raised for our cause.
