We've been busy raising funds for ASHA! Take a look to see what we have been up to recently...
Devillac held its first ever Vide Grenier. We took the ASHA stand and books. Although the Vide grenier was held in the Salle de Fete the appalling weather undoubtably kept many people at home, however, monies were raised.

Quiz Night Montecristo Villereal - 22nd November
Once again a fun evening with eight teams battling it out to be Quiz champions. The winning team members were presented with some lovely red wine with runners up receiving chocolates. Despite the change of date, at fairly short notice due to unforeseen circumstances,we still managed to raise 298 euros on the night. Thankyou to all those who took part, to those who donated raffle prizes and to John Kearsey for acting as Quiz Master.

Sponsored Ride to Chateau Biron - 7 November
The weather was kind to both horses and riders
and thoroughly enjoyed by all. The final total
raised will be around 500euros. A truly
magnificent amount and a very big thank you
to riders, horses and sponsors.

Holistic Horse Day at Cantemerle - 23rd October
Helen Green, ASHA's Trainer held an Holistic Horse clinic in which horses, both members' and ASHA rescue, were used to demonstrate the power of communicating with horses in their own language.
A very successful day, with ideal weather for both horses and humans. The group enjoyed a full day of demonstrations and participation which proved to be both interesting and very enjoyable.
A special thanks to Helen for hosting the day and donating half of the profits to ASHA. Half profits totalled 144 Euros plus a further 65 Euros from donations, making a grand total for the day of 209 Euros.

Colour me Beautiful, Villereal with Afternoon Tea - 12th October
A most enjoyable afternoon with Anne Slater giving us useful tips on make-up, guidance on what to wear for our body shape and what colours to wear. A most informative afternoon thoroughly enjoyed by all. Thank you to Anne.

Wine Tasting Evening, La Sauvetat sur Lede - 9th October
A lovely social evening with Aime Bertholom giving a most interesting and knowledgeable talk on the various wines. He was most entertaining and spoke excellent English. Each wine was accompanied by canapes to complement the wine. Thank you to John and Patricia for hosting the Event

Tea on the Lawn - Born - Tuesday 20th September
A lovely afternoon hosted by Jan in her garden. ASHA ladies had made sandwiches, homemade cakes and scones for all to enjoy a typical English Afternoon Tea. Thank you to Jan and to all who helped to make the day a success, we raised 128 euros

Journee du Cheval - Villereal - Sunday 25th September
Once again we took the ASHA stand to this important day in the year for the local horse world, meeting many new people who were interested in our charity. Thank you to all who helped on the stand and to those members who rode the randonee

Country Fayre and Open Day, Cantemerle - Sunday 21st August
On a lovely summer day everyone enjoyed the "Natural Horsemanship" demonstrations and ASHA horses on show. Throughout the day pony rides, games, tombola, stalls, ice cream, drinks and a wonderful BBQ were on offer. The doggie classes in the afternoon were great fun with one dog spending most of its time escaping from the ring. A magnificent sum of 740 euros was raised for ASHA. A very big thank you to all the helpers, husbands and partners for giving their time both on the day and beforehand.

Villereal Vide Grenier - Sunday 14th August
For the third year we took the ASHA stand, books and bric a brac to the Vide Grenier. Despite the poor weather our volunteers raised 239 euros in sales and donations and talked to a number of potential new members and supporters. Thank you to all those who helped out.

TennisTable/Tennis/Boules Tournament - Sunday 17th July
Despite the most appalling weather a great fun day was had by all who came. The start of the tennis tournament had to be delayed until lunchtime as it was quite impossible for even the most enthusiastic players to take to the court! A big thank you to Parranquet Campsite for the venue and to Joan for organising the tournaments. A total of 102 Euros raised.
Parranquet Vide Grenier - Sunday 17th July
The weather was quite dreadful which was such a shame as this lovely Vide Grenier is usually such a success. Despite the appalling conditions the ASHA ladies raised 42 Euros.

Sculpture Open Day @ Sue Ford's Studio - Sunday 10th July
Despite the awful weather in the morning and early afternoon everyone had a most enjoyable visit to sculptress Sue Ford's garden and studio to view her wonderful sculptures and paintings. We had an opportunity to view work in progress plus a very informative talk by Sue on the various stages before the final sculpture is created. Visitors enjoyed afternoon tea and strawberry cake before leaving.
Despite the weather, 118 euros raised. A very big thank you to Sue and husband Geoff.

An Evening Under the Stars - Friday 1st July
Once again a wonderful evening in the glorious setting at La Moulin de la Ville in Beaumont de Perigord. The guests enjoyed delicious food from Steve and Sue whilst being entertained by Patrick, singer and talented guitarist. A lovely evening which will be repeated next year by kind permission of Steve and Sue. Thank you to all of those involved in making the evening so sucessful.

Garden Fete - Beauregard (between Monflanquin and Cancon) Sunday 26th June
On a glorious sunny day everyone enjoyed a sociable afternoon in a lovely location. The wide variety of stalls offered books, crafts, bric-a-brac clothes, plants, flowers, cakes, cards and an extremely popular Italian ice cream cart. With the money taken from the gate, stalls, tombola, "Guess the Name" game plus some generous donations we raised the fantastic sum of 1000 euros. Thank you to everyone involved.

Walk around Lac de Brayssou - 2nd June
For the 2nd year ASHA supporters came along with their dogs to enjoy a good walk around the
beautiful Lac de Brayssou, stopping en route for coffee and homemade cakes. Special thanks
to Jay for providing the refreshments and to Joan for organising the route. We hope to make
this enjoyable morning an annual event on Ascension Day.

Holistic Horse Day @ Cantemerle on 22nd May with Helen Green
Helen Green, ASHA 's Trainer held an Holisic Horse Clinic in which both members and ASHA rescue horses took part.
A most informative day with participants enhancing their timing and pressure/release skills and learning to trust their instincts. Spectators were able to observe the different learning styles of the horses with their human partners in a relaxed atmosphere.
Thank you to Helen for hosting the day and donating half on the profits to ASHA, raising 115 euros for our charity.

Dinner by Moonlight - Cantemerle - 17th May
Judy O'Lincy hosted an evening barbecue at Cantemerle. Judy very kindly asked for donations from her guests for ASHA. Guests had a wonderful evening with delicious food and wine plus great music. Judy raised 457 euros. ASHA would like to say a very big thank you to Judy for her generosity.

Happy Jazz Night - Bar Moderne Villereal - 29th April
A great fund-raiser, 650 euros raised for ASHA. A wonderful evening with good food and fantastic jazz played by Mike Green and his band. Mike is Helen Green's father and the band entertained us with no charge to ASHA - a truly generous gesture. A big thank you to Helen for organising the event and very special thanks to "Helen's dad" and his band for their fabulous music. A memorable evening thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Monflanquin Spring Fair - 10th April
For the first time we took a stand selling merchandise, books and bric a brac at the Spring Fair where our volunteers, despite the dreary weather, were kept busy raising 184 euros in sales and donations and talking to potential new members. A big thank you to all of those who helped out.

Once again a great fundraiser for us. Total sums raised on the night 358.89 euros. Eleven teams battled it out to be the Quiz champions. It was very close with a tie-break to determine the winning team whose members were presented with some lovely red wine. Thank you to all those who took part, to those members who donated the raffle prizes and to John Kearsey for acting as Quiz Master.

Helen Green, ASHA's Trainer held an Holistic Horse clinic in which horses, both members' and ASHA rescue, were used to demonstrate the power of communicating with horses in their own language.
A group of 14 people had a full day of demonstrations and participation which proved to be interesting and very enjoyable despite the the rather dull and cool weather in the morning.
A special thanks to Helen for hosting the day and donating half of the profits to ASHA. We raised nearly 160 euros for our charity.
A very special thank you to all of the horses for showing us how they communicate with us.
