Clarisse's first ride on Connie at ASHA HQ
We have just received this letter from Connie's adopter:
"Hello. My name is Clarisse; I'm 14 and I've been a fan of horses for as long
as I can remember. I passed the GALOP 4 riding grade.
I met Connie at ASHA. As she didn't know me, she was a little awkward at first,
but it soon improved with the holistic approach and the development of a good
equine/human relationship. I loved her both for her determined nature and her lovely coat.
When I finally came to make my choice, I met her in her field and went out with
her with a member of ASHA. Several people talked to me and asked me questions.
Now she has been with me for a few months; she is very willing and we get on very well.
In the meantime, she gave birth to a foal who, unfortunately, didn't live. He was premature
and had something wrong with his brain. Fortunately, Connie eventually got over the pain.
She always wants to please and we have good rides together. I can now go out alone with her.
She is a wonderful mare and I want to say a big Thank you to Helen and everybody at ASHA.
Love, from Clarisse and Connie"
June 2011
Connie has arrived at her new home! Our Care Coordinator Joan delivered her this week and this is what Joan had to say -
"Connie was successfully delivered to her new home on Tuesday. It was raining when I went to collect her and thought I would have to go into the muddy field to get her but when I called her she neighed and came to the gate. What a darling. She went into the box very calmly and was good for the whole journey, she also came out on arrival in the same manner. We introduced her to her new friends, a mare and a very large donkey. The donkey had no interest in her at all but the mare was very happy to have a new friend to eat grass with, this was as they were when I left her. I think she will be very happy there and she will receive lots of attention and love."
We are hoping to have some photos soon of Connie in her new home.

Great news! Connie is to be adopted by a lovely family in the Limoges area. They have been visiting Connie at Cantemerle regularly to make sure they bond with her and this has been very successful. Connie will live with other 4 legged friends and we are delighted that she will go on to live a happy and useful life as part of the family.
March 2011
Things are moving on a pace with Connie and she has now been backed, firstly 12 y.o. Amber taking to the saddle and now Helen has also ridden her. It won't be long before she is ready to go to a new home.
February 2011
Connie's education is going well, as you can see from the photo showing her working in the round pen under saddle.
January 2011
ASHA volunteers have been working with Connie, helping to desensitise her around her back legs and walking her in hand. She is good in traffic and is happy both in a stable and out in the field with her friends.
Helen is now introducing her to the saddle and will work with her until she is
ready to be adopted by a family.
