Become a Friend

Sadly some of our horses, ponies and donkeys are unable to go to new adoptive homes. This might be because they are now too elderley and/or they have special needs which means they can be better helped by sheltering under the ASHA umbrella.

By becoming a friend of one of these animals you will be helping us to care for them for the rest of their lives.

You can become a very special friend by choosing one of these options for your chosen horse, pony or donkey...

Chesnut Friend - 20 euros/ per year  You will receive:
a photo of your friend
a certificate of friendship
a card on your birthday
quarterly update from your friend
your name on your friend's webpage

Dapple Friend - 40 euros/ per year   You will receive:
all of the above plus one visit (by arrangement) to your friend

Palamino Friend - 60 euros/ per year  Your will receive:
as chesnut friend plus two visits per year (by arrangement) with grooming if you wish

How your gift will help your new friend...

Caring costs, and to help you understand these costs here are just a few of things all equines need:
Hoof Care - even those without shoes need regular trimmingWormer - each equine needs regular worming, usually 4 times p.a.Dentistry - depending on age, horses need to see a special equine dentist either each year or every other yearFeed - each equine has its own individual needs, whether it be fodder or hardtack or both. Some also need extra mineralsBedding - if the animal needs to be stabled at all, we will need to buy straw to make a comfly bed.Veterinary Care - most of the animals rescued by ASHA need specialist veterinary care.

Giving a Friend to someone for Christmas, a Birthday, as a 'thank you' or 'well done' makes a special and unusual gift both for the person receiving the gift and for the equine you will be helping.

Please email us when you make your purchase to let us know the name of the friend and the date of their birthday. (if it is for a child please let us know their age). Email members@ashafrance.org
